Re: Microsoft Launches Unannounced Mandatory Windows 7 Updat
I will check that, though if it was offered my Windows Update I'd have installed it. I don't really use IE anyway, I normally use Firefox.

Re: Chart Shows That Windows XP Users Don't Care About EOS
Doesn't surprise me at all. I'm sure if Windows 7 Home Premium was still available as a retail upgrade pack at a sensible price more home users would move to that, but the only option for them now is Windows 8.1, either upgrade or new PC, and many people still don't like it. Thankfully second hand W...

Re: How to Update Windows XP After End of Support
Yes my virtual WinXP Pro seems to be working fine still, though some have said that the registry patch isn't accepted or that no more updates are found once applying it. It'll be interesting to see what happens next Tuesday.

Re: How to Update Windows XP After End of Support
Attached shows my results on a virtual Windows XP installation (in VirtualBox). Product now identified as XP Embedded and two new updates found. The previous updates on 14th May is when I set up the virtual PC. Of course this being known makes it even easier for hackers to reverse engineer the updat...

Re: Windows XP Officially Out of Patch Tuesday Rollouts
From the email bulletin I got from Microsoft (now deleted, sorry) some of the patches are for Windows Server 2003 which I assume is still supported and uses a similar codebase to XP.

Re: Windows XP Still Refuses to Die
My client is based in a different part of the country to me so the aim is to have it as easy to look after from afar as possible. Their current Windows XP setup has served them well for many years. Work is stored on a NAS drive (two disks in RAID 1) with daily backups to USB drives that are swapped ...

Re: Windows XP Still Refuses to Die
We have no use for that many old PCs. They will be going to a computer recycling charity http://www.jamies.org.uk/ so will hopefully be refurbished and resold.
