Windows XP x86

Post by Whatacrock »

After updating the Extras release today with the removal of Cleartype Tuner Powertoy, decide to download Windows XP x86 release. As a result there are now many updates that Microsoft has removed from their servers, so that anyone attempting to download this it has been removed from releases 2 listing (disabled). Have also locked the topic so that no new posts can be added.

As a matter of interest to anyone here is an extract of the autopatcher log with the updates that are no longer available.
► Show Spoiler
I would strongly suggest that anyone still using Windows XP x86 to archive the release and keep in a safe place..

Um, Microsoft has only removed the XP x86 downloads from the MS Download Center site, including all the Service Pack downloads for XP x86 (SP1, SP2 & SP3). However, the service packs & security updates (and some non-security updates) for XP x86 are still available for download from the Microsoft Update Catalog site (you just have to search for them there).

Ex. WindowsXP-KB969084-x86-enu.exe is available at this location.
Ex2. WindowsSearch-KB940157-XP-x86-enu.exe is available at this location

...is there any way I can get the last .rtiz file for the archive again? I've still got all the patches and installers, but in the process of trying to figure out AP6.2, I somehow deleted the .rtiz file and it won't see them now.

...well, pish. now it can't find "windows_xp_x86.apm" - Sweeper apparently sees everything else in the XP folder OK now, though.

might I talk you out of a copy? :)

well, spit - now something else is wrong; none of the updates install - they fail out with a message box about using command-line switches...
