Update apply hangs AP 6.1.32

Post by Ztruker »

Trying to install updates to a Win 7 Home X64 laptop, 4GB ram, 500GB HDD.
Trying to install KBH2479943 and it hangs at 98% complete. Been sitting there for about an hour now.

The issue with update has been discussed elsewhere in the forum, but can not off the top of my head remember the threads.

Did you get it to install ??

If not try manually installing the update, file location autopatcher:\modules\Windows_Seven_x64\Critical\Critical_files\

Once installed then run autopatcher to continue installing the updates you require

I have found, with my Win7 Home Premium 32 bit system, that the wusa.exe is what causes the hang-up at 97, 98, and 99% on all of the installations I attempt. When I End Process via the Task Manager, the update finishes with no apparent harm to the installation.

If you are having similar trouble, run Autopatcher and get to the screen where it is actually installing the update. Then open the Task Manager (ctrl+alt+del / Start Task Manager option) and right-click "wusa.exe" on the list. Choose End Process and hit Enter when the new query window opens.

The installation should finish immediately. Now if I can only find out how to fix my corrupted wusa.exe and Win7 Update....

Best wishes!

Remember to wait at least 5 minutes with it in a "hanging state"(no hard drive light flashing like crazy) to let it run through anything it might be slow on before you kill it.

What version of AP are you using? The full log would be most useful.

edit: check the main list. There may be a newer version of AP for you if you are not using 6.1.40.

This link downloads version 6.1.32 http://autopatcher.net/forum/viewforum.php?f=3

P.S.
