Java 8 released

Extra includes several programs. Prominent ones are Shockwave, Flashplayer, Silverlight(MS IE addon), Some XP Powertoys, and TweakUI

Java 8 Update 11 has been released for those of you that are interested.

You must accept the Oracle Binary Code License Agreement for Java SE to download this software.

A quick note : the update for the 64bit version is somewhat larger than than normal -- 96.1 Mb

32bit still around 32 Mb

Oracle/Java has recently offered beta versions: jre-8u40-ea-bin-b02-windows-i586-20_aug_2014.exe and jre-8u40-ea-bin-b02-windows-x64-20_aug_2014.exe

I would guess/assume that JRE 8 update 20 is, maybe, in a final release and ready to be added? :shock:

To all concerned Java 8 will be added once it becomes mainstream, that is to say a direct link to download with out the need to agree to the licensing agreement.

As previously posted, Oracle are continuing support for Windows XP with version 7, whereas Java 8 does not, this in mind will continue updating the Java with version 7 for now, this will change in the future and will be dealt with when appropriate..

To all concerned Java 8 has been released mainstream with version 8 update 25. More to come on this later today..

UPDATE
Java 8 scripts have been created and uploaded to the server. This will now appear on the main list..

Java 8 and 7 can coexist on the same system, however it would be wiser to decide on one or the other, remembering that Java 8 supports Windows Vista and upwards. Please remember if you only want Java 8 on your system, uninstall any prior versions before installing.

Java 7 will eventually be offered for Windows XP only, currently for all OS's. This will change sometime in the near future..

Updated the apm modules for both the x64 and x86 Java 8 Update 31. As nobody had commented that neither installed I had assumed that all was in order, that was NOT the case, radical editing was required.

It is now available for download on main list..

As per the discussion in Suggest Forum http://autopatcher.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=5&t=1079 it was suggested to sub categories for Adobe, Java etc. This is now a reality with Java 7 and 8, you will notice that this tidies up AddOns (extras) directory nicely.

Both new releases are now available on main list, dated February 22
