ok DJ.. unzip this into an already existing AP directory... just because its going to do the standard checks for missing files and what not. It does not need anything other then then itself to run but, it will close before running full tests without the bin directory. This one will NOT initialize forms and anything other then the basics. The next one to make for you if this works, will initialize everything for the forms.

If the app starts click the button for each step. First one will start up the log. The next one will check for admin rights, the next one will check for needed file to run AP.

Win7 w/SP1 test.

Extracted AP v6.2.0.14 to empty folder, double clicking AutoPatcher.exe > nothing.

Extracted Startup tester to same folder > double-clicked > started > Press Me button and below it: Startup Programs Here: > button pressed >

Error Detected: File name or class name not found during Automation operation in Initilization.PrimaryInit At Line 100 > OK > Same Error message
appears and line added to Startup Tester: Starting Logger !ERROR! > repeats with each press of OK button within error detected window.

Unable to stop program - selecting X in upper right corner has no effect. Ctrl-Alt-Del to get Task Manager > Select Startup Tester > End Task
fails.

Ctrl-Alt-Del again > switch user > force logoff > sign in (again) finally worked.

Checked folder > no Startup Tester log file found.

Booted to Win10 (Upgraded from 8.1) > same AutoPatcher folder.

AutoPatcher started > OK license > check update windows > selected nothing (for now) > log follows:

That is what we are trying to figure out... the strange thing is it is just your version of windows 7. :(

Just as a check DJ... check your system32 and syswow64 folders for a scrrun.dll if that is missing then that would be a HUGE problem and the reason the apps are not working since they NEED that one file to work with other files. It comes with windows though... so if its missing you got some underlying issues.

attached is one that has the error repeating fixed as well as a bit more error lines. Might catch the exact location its giving automation errors on.

So i had this same issue. The fix was simple, in the bin folder for autopatcher is richtx32.ocx . Copy it to the same folder as the executable for autopatcher and run. Started right up for me looks like it may have just been packaged incorrectly. Hope this worked for everyone.

The thing is... it is supposed to copy and register those files for you. If you run it as admin first it will do that.

DJ did you ever try out the OCX finder to see if things were registered?

Checked for scrrun.dll - found one each in \system32 and \SysWOW64 folders.

File version 5.8.7601.23403 in each. Will report later on test of newer StartupTester.

What is OCX finder?

Later:

Downloaded StartupTester and extracted same to \AutoPatcher folder.

StartupTester clicked and PressMe button pushed: Error Detected - File name or class name not found during Automation operation in Initilization.PrimaryInit At Line 112 > OK

Startup Progress Here:
Starting Logger
!ERROR!

Same error message and result each time Press Me button pushed.

Closed - no log file.

The only file this needs is the scrrun.dll (dependency walker says all you need for any VB6 application is MSVBVM60.DLL ITS WRONG but, what ever) (comes with newer windows and since XP SP2-3?). Since you have that it should run.

hmm... just a quick thought... try this as well
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/downloa ... x?id=24417
This is a runtime pack by M$ FOR VB6 created applications... again many of these already come with windows windows Vista and up( and XP SP3?). (contains MSVBVM60.DLL anyways give it a try if you don't have that file)
It doesn't seem to install properly on my 64x OS when I tried it so, take the downloaded exe(which is a self extracting zip) run it to unzip it into a folder
Then take and right click on the new exe and open it with 7zip. Extract its contents to a new folder or the same one it does not matter.
Right click on the inf file and install it.
If this fixes it for you... I will have to create an install file for AP.

edit: changed/added things up above...
