I first posted this in the Windows 7 forum but that is only for notices, sorry.

Trying to install KB2479943 and it hangs at 98% complete. Been sitting there for about an hour now.

Most of the updates I've tried hang at 97% or 98%.
Here is another from a different computer. Sony VGC-RC210G 3Ghz, 2GB ram, 159GB HDD

Is there any other info I can provide for this problem?

I have the same problem, used autopatcher in different computers... some updates install with no problem, Others it just stay at 98% forever.

One thing I've noticed it's that when I have autopatcher "blocked" and I restart the Windows Update service from (services.msc) autopatcher manage to finish the install and then go on to the next on the list.

Fairly sure its not AP's issue but, Have you tried the newer version of AP?
The reason I am mostly sure its not AP is because AP simply just keeps making checks on when the update finally exits. IF the update never quits then AP keeps waiting. The best way to check on the hang is to hit Ctrl+Alt+Delete and select Task Manager. In there you will see "wusa.exe". THAT is windows installing an update. IF that is no longer running that means that update finished and AP truly did hang for some reason. Generally in windows 7 you can see the command line associated with the process. For updates it will be easy to find. It will look like "c:\windows\system32\wusa.exe <YOUR AP DIR><YOUR UPDATE>"

Sorry, I did not receive a notification you had replied to this thread.

I'll try this next week again and see what is happening. Windows Update has definitely been weird recently, taking as long as 13 hours (let it run overnight) to finally get the list of updates to install.

I have the same problem with Windows Update. I am 100% certain that it is a problem with the Windows Update Server on the Microsoft side, not a problem with anything on our computers on the client side. I tried explaining this to Microsoft Support via Chat and over the phone and they in every case act like I am speaking a foreign language or that I did not say anything at all. I maintain my position that the developers and contributors of Auto Patcher should be paid full salaries by Microsoft, who should subsequently fire all their outsourced employees.

Yes, I agree. It's a problem with windows update. Since release of Windows 10 there's been a lot of problems with updating Windows 7. If you search you'll find a lot of threads in forums about that. There's also a lot of solutions suggested for that... but none of them work 100% of the time.

AP actually help me a lot...

Now I'm doing those steps to update using AP and Windows update after:

- AP modules updated in another computer.
- Install fresh windows.
- DO NOT connect the computer to internet.
- Run AP and install updates, restart and do it again.

I don't know why but if I connect the computer to internet even only one time, AP will HANG on installation for some updates, and the only way to solve it's restarting the Windows Update service.

Probably the problem is the connection with Microsoft servers that search, validate and download updates.

Probably due to background updating. There are updates that install without your consent or knowing. That is how they ( Microsoft ) update root certs now.

how to fix:
download manual from microsoft update catalog : "windows 7 KB2479943" download accordingly, x32 or x64, keep files
read the KB2491683_seven_x86.apm, down at chapter installation
rename to (Windows6.1-KB2491683-x86.msu)
move to folder xxx_files (\AutoPatcher-v6_2_26\modules\Windows_Seven_x86\Critical\Critical_files\Windows6.1-KB2491683-x86.msu)
restart AP
repeat all Hang
working on me
