Jus' lemme know when they're ready to be pulled and tried - I've got a box here that's lobotomized for testing things, and I can run it through a bare-metal install with SP1 and the patching archive.

will do. Got about 9 more apms to create and it will be done.
There will be a new directory called Rollup sitting next to critical and noncritical. It will probably never contain more then 12 files in it since one will be deleted and another added every month.

Now a side note... It has just occurred to me that there MIGHT be a downside to installing updates this way. It will also install all the tracking crap "updates" without being able to remove them individually; since you did not install a single update with it in it... you are installing a package of updates that has that crap in it as well.

This is what I am thinking anyways. I don't know for sure. You might be able to uninstall trackingware without having individually installed it however I am doubtful of that happening without some kind of manual file removal.

I did not have time to test the script before uploading...

oops fixed the script for the rollup updates. Pointed to wrong location.

Downloading the script now for a fresh download test.

ok script is fixed up. I even forgot to add an apm. :(

Give your install a try and give me a list of file it thinks it needs after the fact.

...Sry, Real Life very inconsiderately and stressfully intervened for the past week or so - not 30 minutes after I made that last post, I was informed of a death in the family, so... yeah.

I've got the laptop ready to wipe and test-reinstall here in the next day or so, provided nothing =else= comes flying loose at speed... ~:L

Hokay, I've run the install and cycled AP until it nothing else installs, then I ran WU and took pictures of the lists of updates it wants to pull. I haven't told it to do it yet though, so if you need anything further to check tell me and I'll pull it off.

ok this will do nicely. I have to reinstall my vm copy anyways since the time to register ran out on it. Some of the update on your list are in the script. Strange that they did not install.

there's always 7 or 8 that it shoots right past, like the install fails silently or determines it doesn't need it and skips to the next. Some of them then DO install when they are downloaded and run by Windows Update. :?: :?

Is there a log or something I can copy off this machine and stick up here?
