AP 6.1.40
OS = Win 7 SP1 x86

When I ran the Critical & Recommended Updates, AP acted like it was installing these updates, but some did not actually install. When I ran any of these updates (.msu files) manually, I got a message either that the update was Not Applicable to my computer, or that it was already installed.

CRITICAL UPDATES:
KB2872339 - already installed
KB3023607 - not applicable to this computer
KB3045999 - already installed
KB3070102 - not applicable to this computer
KB3101246 - not applicable to this computer

RECOMMENDED UPDATES:
- Updates (.msu) showed Not Applicable for all
- Prereqs are installed (for those indicated to have them on Microsoft's website)
KB2847077
KB2913152
KB2929755
KB2980245
KB2978092
KB3001554
KB2994023
KB3000988
KB3008627
KB3009736
KB3004394-v2
KB3065979

KB3065987 - This Recommended Update behaved a little differently. It did not install through AP, but after I ran the install manually, the KB installed, then it showed in as Installed in (Windows) Installed Updates & in AP.

If they installed fine for other people but just not for me, I can just hide them and go about my business.

It would appear that further investigation is required and if required the apm modules amended to suit. Give me a little time to see what can be achieved..

Thanks for your efforts. :D I wish I had lot of VM's or systems with all the different OS versions so I could test them all!

@Pendraguin --- A check of the updates shed very little light other than the general information supplied by MS. I would set the updates for exclusion and work from there.

As each system differs in configuration, this can make creating the apm modules extremely difficult, thus the more generic solution is applied, that is use the security catalog entries for detection. This does not always apply and on occasions either a registry entry or file detection may also be applied.

That works for me. Hid them, and they no longer show in AP. Nice that the blacklist was fixed a few versions ago!

Silverlight can be found in the AddOns (Extras release) -- this has been updated so please refer to the Extras forum

As far as Windows Defender is concerned, it is advisable to allow Windows Update take care of these definition updates. As these are updated approximately every 3-4 days it would be way too time consuming keeping this updated.
