Starting system up this morning and within 5 minutes of booting I received a notification the Updates were available for installation. Running Windows Seven x64.
Update offered was KB3008923 MS14-080..
Upon clicking on balloon to install the updates, checked the Knowledge Base numbers to discover that the update wanting to be installed was an old superseded update from 2014, December 9. Thinking WTF, why an old cumulative update for Internet Explorer 11 required installing was beyond me.
Curiously searched the internet but found no results. To check this even further I started up a VM of Windows Seven and checked for updates.
Low and behold the update was listed -- installed it. Checked another VM with the same results. Finally tried Windows 8.1 --- no result, it appears to only be affected on Windows 32 and 64 bit.
Any one receive this notification --- please post
