I have two laptops both running sp1. I use the same DVD to update both, but one never updates the system. Where is the log file that would tell me why?

If installing from a media which cannot be written back to, as in your case, you should find the appropriate log files located in the root of system drive (this being C:\ in a majority of cases).

@parkd1 -- checked my windows update but did not receive that update.

This update helps Microsoft make improvements to the current operating system in order to ease the upgrade experience to the latest version of Windows.

As such no direct download link is available this one will remain the responsibility of the end user.

Found a link to update, as before this is the responsibility of the End User.
